About

Philosophy & Psychiatry Seminar

The seminar was envisioned as a place for presentations and discussions on contemporary topics that intersect between philosophy and psychiatry, such as the nature of psychiatric disorders, ethical and legal dilemmas in psychiatry, the significance of phenomenological psychopathology, controversies in antipsychiatry, social pathology, and broader topics like mental health and normality that can be viewed from a philosophical perspective. Additionally, there are plans to analyze the philosophical roots of leading psychotherapy methods, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy and psychoanalysis.

Furthermore, the seminar aims to explore issues related to consciousness, the mind-body relationship, free will, and autonomy through the lens of psychiatric disorders. This series of lectures will strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration among experts dedicated to understanding and treating psychiatric disorders.

Speakers from both domestic and international backgrounds will present at the seminar. Presentations will be live at the Institute of Social Sciences and available online through Zoom.
