If you want reliable, safe listening for a child's daily screen time and school use, choose Philips Kids Headphones; if you need open-ear audio for active sports or outdoor awareness on your PS5, choose Yorlu Bone Conduction Headphones. These two products solve completely different problems, and picking the wrong one leads to frustration rather than enjoyment. The Philips model is engineered specifically for young ears with hard volume limits and durable construction, while the Yorlu unit prioritizes situational awareness and wireless freedom through bone conduction technology. One is a protective shield for developing hearing; the other is an open window to the world during movement.
• Philips Kids Headphones: Strengths include a strict 85dB volume limiter for hearing safety and a durable, screw-free design that grows with the child; the trade-off is the wired connection which restricts movement. Best for parents needing safe, focused listening for toddlers and school-aged kids.
• Yorlu Bone Conduction Headphones: Strengths feature an open-ear design that keeps users aware of surroundings, Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, and a lightweight titanium frame perfect for exercise; the trade-off is the lack of noise isolation and the adult-focused form factor. Best for adults seeking hands-free audio for workouts or gaming without blocking out ambient sound.
The Philips Kids Headphones are built with a singular, non-negotiable goal in mind: protecting a child's hearing while delivering clear sound. This isn't just a software setting; it is a hardware limitation embedded in the device. Whether a child is watching cartoons on a tablet, learning a new language, or creating music, the sound stays within a safe range regardless of how high the volume knob is turned on the source device. This makes the product indispensable for parents who want to ensure their children enjoy media without risking long-term auditory health.
Design-wise, these headphones cater to the physical reality of growing heads. The headband is fully adjustable, spanning from 330mm to 360mm, ensuring a snug fit that doesn't pinch or slip as the child grows. The ear cushions are made of soft foam and are completely cushioned, providing a secure fit that kids can forget they are wearing. The "pop-on, pop-off" screw-free design suggests a level of durability meant to survive drops and tugs, common occurrences in a household with energetic children. The 32mm neodymium speaker drivers deliver balanced sound with clear bass, proving that safety does not require sacrificing audio quality. However, the reliance on a 1.2-meter wired cable means the child must stay tethered to their device, which limits roaming but ensures zero battery anxiety.

This product is ideal for any parent buying headphones for a child aged 3 and up. It fits perfectly into scenarios like long car rides, quiet time at home, or classroom use where focus is required. The noise-isolating ear cushions help block out background chatter, allowing the child to hear dialogue clearly even in noisy environments. If you are looking for something to keep a toddler entertained safely for hours, this is the tool for the job. However, it is not suitable for older teens or adults who demand wireless freedom or deep immersion in competitive gaming. The wired nature and specific ergonomic sizing make it a specialized tool rather than a universal headset.
The Yorlu Bone Conduction Headphones operate on a fundamentally different philosophy: keeping the ear canal open. By utilizing bone conduction technology, these headphones transmit sound vibrations directly through the cheekbones to the inner ear, bypassing the eardrum entirely. This creates an "open-ear" experience that is crucial for anyone who needs to remain aware of their environment. The description emphasizes that this design eliminates the discomfort often associated with in-ear buds, making them comfortable for all-day wear. Weighing only 28 grams and crafted from a flexible memory titanium frame, they are designed to be virtually weightless and secure during vigorous activity.
Wireless freedom is the standout feature here. With Bluetooth 5.4, the connection is fast and stable, removing the tangle of cords that often frustrate active users. The battery life supports up to 10 hours of continuous playtime, which covers most workout sessions or long hikes without needing a recharge. The IP56 rating confirms they can withstand sweat and rain, making them robust enough for intense training or outdoor adventures. Unlike the Philips model, there is no volume limiter mentioned, meaning the user controls the loudness entirely. While this offers flexibility, it also places the responsibility of hearing safety squarely on the wearer. The absence of a headphone jack and the reliance on Type-C charging further signal a modern, mobile-first approach.
This product is best suited for adults or active teenagers who prioritize situational awareness. It excels as an open-ear solution for running, cycling, or hiking where hearing traffic or other people is essential for safety. In the context of gaming, specifically for a console like the PS5, it serves as a unique option for those who want to hear game audio while still being able to talk to family members in the room or hear doorbells. The open-ear design prevents the "isolated" feeling of traditional headphones, which some gamers find disorienting. However, the lack of passive noise isolation means these will not block out a noisy TV or loud neighbors, making them less ideal for immersive, single-player experiences where total audio focus is desired. They are a lifestyle accessory first and a gaming peripheral second.

I would buy the Philips Kids Headphones if my primary goal was to provide a safe, distraction-free audio experience for a child using a PS5 or tablet. The 85dB volume limiter is a non-negotiable feature for me when dealing with younger listeners, and the wired connection ensures I never have to worry about a dead battery ruining a session. The sound isolation helps the child focus on the game or movie without external interference. Conversely, I would choose the Yorlu Bone Conduction Headphones if I were an adult gamer who needed to keep one ear open to the room while playing, or if I wanted to use the same pair for running and gaming. For a setup for ps5, if the user is a child, the Philips model is the only responsible choice due to its safety features and focus-enhancing design.
Yes, both work with the PS5. The Philips model connects via a standard 3.5mm jack found on the controller, while the Yorlu uses Bluetooth 5.4 to pair wirelessly, though you may need a USB Bluetooth adapter depending on your specific console setup.
They provide clear audio for speech and general sounds, but they lack the bass depth and isolation of traditional over-ear drivers. They are excellent for staying aware of your surroundings but may not deliver the deepest immersive experience for heavy bass games.
Always look for models with a built-in volume limiter, such as the 85dB cap on the Philips Kids Headphones. This hardware restriction ensures that even if the volume is maxed out on the device, the output remains at a safe level for young ears.
