If you want a lightweight, secure in-ear solution for active listening that stays put during movement, choose Philips A1105; if you need a durable, over-the-head gaming headset with a built-in microphone and volume controls for console or PC use, choose Mikikit 2pcs. This is not a close call between two identical items; these are tools designed for fundamentally different purposes. The Philips A1105 is an open-acoustics wired sports headphone built for stability and sweat resistance, while the Mikikit 2pcs offers a classic on-ear gaming design with a retractable headband and noise-reduction microphone, sold as a two-pack. I am writing this to help you decide which one actually fits your daily routine, especially if you are looking for the best comfortable bluetooth headphones for elderly users who prioritize ease of use, or perhaps a hi res headset for elderly family members who want clear audio without complex pairing.
• Philips A1105: Its biggest strength is the contoured ear-hook design that provides a secure fit for active movement, but it lacks wireless capability and relies entirely on a wired connection. It is ideal for someone who wants simple, reliable audio while walking, jogging, or doing chores without worrying about battery life.
• Mikikit 2pcs: Its biggest strength is the value of getting two units with a professional noise-reduction microphone and adjustable headband for gaming or calls, but it is bulkier and heavier than true wireless options. It is perfect for a household needing multiple headsets for family gaming sessions or shared workspaces where volume control is key.
The Philips A1105 is engineered for people who need their headphones to disappear into their activity rather than become a distraction. The core of its design is the flexible, contoured ear hook. Unlike standard in-ear buds that rely solely on friction inside the canal, this model uses a rubber anchor that wraps around the ear. This ensures the device stays securely in place even when you are moving vigorously. The data sheet specifies an IPX2 sweat-resistant rating, which means it can handle light moisture from a workout or a hot day, making it a practical choice for anyone who exercises regularly or works outdoors.

For the elderly user who might struggle with fine motor skills, the simplicity here is a major plus. There are no Bluetooth pairings to navigate, no batteries to charge, and no apps to install. You simply plug the 3.5mm connector into any smartphone or tablet, and it works immediately. The inline remote allows you to control the playlist or take calls without fumbling with the device itself. The 15mm dynamic drivers deliver deep bass and quality sound within a frequency range of 20 to 20,000 Hz, providing a rich audio experience that is easy to hear without being overwhelmed by complexity.
However, this product is not for everyone. If you are looking for a hi res headset for elderly parents who prefer to listen to audiobooks while sitting still in a chair, the wire might be a nuisance. The 1.2-meter cord is convenient for pocket storage, but it limits your range of motion compared to wireless options. Additionally, because it is an open acoustics design, it does not isolate you from outside noise. While this keeps you aware of your surroundings—a safety feature for many—it means you will hear traffic or conversation clearly. If you need silence or deep isolation, this is not the right tool. It is also strictly a single unit; you cannot buy a "pair" for two people simultaneously unless you purchase two separate boxes.
The Mikikit 2pcs brings a different philosophy to the table: utility and volume. This is a wired, on-ear gaming headset designed for durability and communication. The most striking feature is the package itself—two headsets for the price of one. This makes it an exceptional choice for families with multiple gamers or households where sharing audio equipment is necessary. The enclosure material combines faux leather and plastic, offering a soft touch against the ears while maintaining a sturdy structure. The large ear cups provide comfort for extended sessions, which is crucial for long gaming marathons or lengthy conference calls.
Communication is central to this design. It features a professional noise reduction chip microphone, which helps filter out background chatter so your voice comes through clearly. This is a significant advantage over the Philips A1105, which has an inline remote but no dedicated boom mic described in the specs. The Mikikit includes wired controls that let you adjust the volume level and manage the microphone directly on the cable. The headband is both flexible and retractable, meaning it can fit different head sizes comfortably. Whether you are using it with a PS4 Pro, a laptop, or a phone, the 3.5mm jack ensures broad compatibility without the need for dongles or drivers.
That said, the trade-offs are physical. At 1.1 pounds total (for the pair), these are significantly heavier than the 19.87g Philips A1105. They are not designed for running or high-intensity movement; they are built for stationary use at a desk or on a couch. The lack of water resistance is another factor; if you plan to wear these near sweat or rain, they are not suitable. Furthermore, the age range description suggests "big_kid," implying a larger form factor that might not be ideal for very small children or those with sensitive necks due to the weight distribution of the over-ear design. They are fantastic for a living room setup, but they would feel cumbersome for a morning walk.
• Best for mobility and security → Philips A1105. The ear-hook design prevents them from falling out, making them the only viable option for active use.
• Best for communication and gaming → Mikikit 2pcs. The dedicated noise-reduction microphone and volume controls offer superior interaction for multiplayer games or calls.
• Best for battery-free reliability → Philips A1105. Since it is fully wired, you never have to worry about charging cycles or a dead battery mid-listen.
• Best for multi-user households → Mikikit 2pcs. Getting two units means you can share the experience immediately without buying a second set later.
• Best for sweat resistance → Philips A1105. The IPX2 rating protects the electronics from moisture, whereas the Mikikit is not water-resistant.
• Best for comfort during long sits → Mikikit 2pcs. The large, faux-leather ear cups and adjustable headband are better suited for sedentary hours.
• Best for simple operation → Philips A1105. Plug and play with zero setup is unmatched for seniors or those avoiding tech complexity.
• Best for noise isolation → Mikikit 2pcs. The on-ear design with faux leather cushions naturally blocks more external sound than the open acoustic Philips.
If I had to recommend one based on the specific needs of an older adult looking for a hi res headset for elderly listeners who want clarity and simplicity, I would lean toward the Philips A1105. The reason is straightforward: the secure ear-hook fit eliminates the anxiety of headphones falling out, and the wired connection removes the stress of managing battery life or pairing codes. It is the most reliable, low-maintenance option for daily listening. However, if your priority is setting up a family game night or ensuring two people can chat clearly without background noise, the Mikikit 2pcs is the undeniable winner for its dual-unit value and superior microphone capabilities. Ultimately, for the elderly user who values independence and ease of use above all else, the Philips A1105 remains my top pick for its thoughtful, stable design.
No, neither product is wireless. The Philips A1105 connects via a 3.5mm jack with a 1.2m cord, and the Mikikit 2pcs also uses a 3.5mm wired connection for audio and microphone input.
The Mikikit 2pcs is specifically designed for gaming with a noise-reduction microphone and volume controls on the cable, whereas the Philips A1105 is focused on sports and general music listening.
Yes, the Philips A1105 features an IPX2 sweat-resistant rating and a secure ear-hook design, making it suitable for jogging or exercise, unlike the non-water-resistant Mikikit.
The Philips A1105 comes with a 1-year manufacturer warranty, while the product information for the Mikikit 2pcs indicates no warranty description is provided.
