Philippine Eagle

The Philippine Eagle (Pithecophaga Jefferyi) part of the Accipitridae family (eagles and hawks) is arguably one of the worlds largest birds of prey. Located on only four (Luzon, Samar, Leyte, and Mindanao) out of the 7,000+ islands that make up the Philippines, this magnificent bird is a very skilled hunter of its rainforest habitat. This creature is critically endangered due to habitat destruction and poaching (12 year prison sentence and heavy fines). Harsher penalties and more land being protected is their key to survival.
