This project was part of Stanly Community College’s plan for campus safety and preparedness in the event of an active shooter situation. The premise was to simulate a 15 minute window from gun fire to safety and everything in between necessary for survival.
In this large project I partnered with the Radiography department in an effort to simulate proper x-ray technique from head to toe as a review resource. Videos are embedded in the static launch page found to the right.
Featuring SCC English instructors and local experts discussing all things writing, this podcast was a feature in all basic English courses and made an incredible 3 season run! It was and remains relevant to college courses, but engaging and approachable enough for anyone to enjoy.
In this large project I partnered with the Nurse Aide faculty department to simulate all North Carolina state tested techniques that students must demonstrate perfectly in order to pass their state examinations. This was designed for ease of use and quick review for students on the go. Videos are embedded in the static launch page found to the right.
With so many potential dangers in a welding lab, the head of the department desired a preliminary virtual safety tour so students could be better prepared for these potential hazards before facing them.
Inspired by the Welding Virtual Safety Tour, this simulation was commissioned to orient new electrical lineman students to the equipment and safety procedures vital to their dangerous training and career. The program head desired students to have a fair understanding of the program before ever stepping foot in the (outdoor) classroom.
This tool was an effort to digitize a pre-existing lab activity where students would observe and investigate a mock crime scene. The program head desired a way of students participating in the lab virtually in an effort to broaden its reach and be available for review.
This project was an effort to take a vital part of seated class labs (dissecting a sheep brain) and scaling it to an in home environment for fully online students so they didn't miss out on the education and experience. I partnered with a biology instructor to create a detailed simulation so students could hit the ground running when their brain arrived in the mail.
Each year I partner with HR to generate new content for our mandatory training program for all faculty and staff. Annuals topics include Campus Safety, Network Security, ADA, Title IX, Sexual Harassment, Ergonomics, FERPA, etc. I film our resident experts as well as help build modules for completion in our LMS, Canvas.
With the help of grant funds Stanly Community College invested in a greenhouse on campus to aid in the Agri-Business program and to begin a community garden. This video overviewed it’s launch and first planting cycle.
This infographic was commissioned to be a helpful guide for faculty as they strive to add greater and more consistent Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI). See full graphic HERE.
As part of an ongoing effort for the last 6 years I have been redesigning our online classes in our LMS, Canvas, to better align with ACUE and Quality Matters (APPQMR) standards.
This probability game for the math department of Stanly Community College was designed to provide instruction for students on how to play a card game to assist with understanding and practice of probability.
