My recent project involves using foreign direct investment (FDI) network data from the IMF to develop and calculate a dynamic and relational measure of national economies' dependency on foreign capital. The preliminary results can be seen in the map below for 2009 - 2023. I will be presenting the full method as well as some early results pertaining to the nexus of FDI Dependency and Climate Outcomes at the 2025 annual meeting of the Oklahoma Sociological Association (OSA) in Edmond, OK, this November.
