Effective Date: June 27, 2026
The "Pharmacy Safety Checker" Chrome extension ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting user privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how the extension processes, utilizes, and safeguards information while fulfilling its core single purpose: determining whether an online pharmacy is safely licensed or operating illegitimately.
To provide real-time pharmacy safety and compliance metrics, the extension must temporarily interact with data from your active browser session when you invoke the extension (via the popup UI or the configured keyboard shortcut). We process the following categories of data:
Active Web Address (Web History): The extension reads the URL of the active tab. This is strictly required to cross-reference the website's domain name against the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) Safe Site registry and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warning list.
Website Content: The extension evaluates visible text, titles, and local hyperlinks on the active webpage. This data is read to detect critical verification parameters—such as explicit prescription requirements, listed pharmacy license numbers, and medical compliance claims.
Geographic / Regulatory Context (Location): The extension extracts regional text patterns from the webpage (such as state indicators or listed business addresses) solely to map identified pharmacy credentials to the corresponding state-level Board of Pharmacy licensing database.
Safe Pharmacy Network Requests: The extension securely queries the NABP verification endpoint (https://safe.pharmacy) via background fetch modules to verify the domain's legal whitelist status.
Local Microservice Validation: For advanced structural license compliance, the extension communicates with a locally hosted processing endpoint. This interface processes scraped domain data locally to cross-check credentials against regulatory registries. No user data routed through this local loop is stored, broadcasted, or sent to unauthorized external servers.
All scanning, scraping, and verification operations occur live during your active browsing session. The extension does not permanently store, log, or track your browsing history, personal metrics, search terms, or device identities on any remote cloud database. All contextual assessments are ephemeral and clear upon closing the extension interface or changing tabs.
The use of information received from Google APIs adheres strictly to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use restrictions:
No Data Sales: We do not sell, rent, or lease user data to third parties under any circumstances.
No Scope Creep: We do not use or transfer user data for any purposes that are unrelated to the item's single purpose (pharmacy safety verification).
No Lending/Profiling: We do not use user data to track user behavioral profiles, determine creditworthiness, or for financial/lending purposes.
We implement strict operational guidelines to keep the extension lightweight and secure. Because your data is handled locally and ephemerally, it is inherently protected from external server-side data breaches.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect modifications in our software architecture or updates to Chrome Web Store program policies. Any updates will be designated by revising the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.
