On 7 September 2024, Typhoon Yagi, the most powerful storm to hit the South China Sea in 30 years, made landfall in Northern Vietnam. The storm caused widespread damage in multiple provinces, bringing strong winds and five days of heavy rains that led to widespread flooding and landslides. Typhoon Yagi significantly impacted livelihoods, displacing thousands and damaging critical infrastructure.
I joined the Swiss Humanitarian Aid team to provide emergency support, including cash, road clearing, water cleaning (WASH) and others as requested by the local government in Yen Bai -- a province that was severely affected.
After the mission, I worked as an independent consultant to provide a post-distribution monitoring (PDM) report on the Multipurpose Cash Assistance Program component.
