The Postgraduate Group Theory Conference (PGTC) is an annual event, organised by and for PhD students in group theory (and related areas) in the UK (and beyond). This year's conference will be the 27th edition and will be held at the University of Manchester from Tuesday 30th June to Friday 3rd July 2026.
PGTC is a great opportunity for PhD students interested in group theory to present a short talk or a poster in a friendly environment. Giving a talk or presenting a poster is not compulsory, but very much encouraged.
There will also be four plenary speakers throughout the conference.
If you would like to attend PGTC 2026, fill out the registration form to the right or here, and then pay any relevant fees here. After that just keep an eye out for emails from pgtc2026@manchester.ac.uk.
Please note that the deadline for accommodation has now passed, and as such we are unlikely to be able to allow for any further applications for accommodation.
Deadlines:
Accommodation fees should have been paid by no later than Monday 18th May. If you have not yet arranged this, please do so as soon as possible.
Titles and abstracts for talks must be submitted before Monday 8th June.
Conference registration fees can be paid right up to Monday 29th June.
We are running PGTC at a similar cost to previous years:
For everyone, a £40 registration fee, which includes access to all talks, lunch on all four days, and the conference dinner.
Optionally, four nights of subsidised accommodation 29th June – 3rd July. This will cost £100 per person for shared (two person) en-suite rooms within walking distance of the conference.
More information about travel, accommodation, and things to do in Manchester can be found on the Practical Info page.
Any questions can be directed to pgtc2026@manchester.ac.uk. This is also the email we will use for any conference communications.
