The Postgraduate Group Theory Conference (PGTC) is an annual event, organised by and for PhD students in group theory (and related areas) in the UK (and beyond). The conference is now entering its 27th edition, and will be held at the University of Manchester from 7th-10th July, 2026.
PGTC is a great opportunity for PhD students interested in Group Theory to present a short talk in a friendly environment. Giving a talk is not compulsory, but very much encouraged!
We also expect to have a few talks by more senior group theory researchers - watch this space for more...
We hope to run PGTC at a similar cost to previous years:
For everyone, a £40 registration fee, which includes access to all talks, lunch on all four days, and the conference dinner
Optionally, four nights of subsidised accommodation 6th-10th July. We estimate this will cost around around £100 per-person for shared (2-person), en-suite rooms within walking distance of the conference, though we are also evaluating the option of individual rooms
These prices are subject to change, and will be finalised before registration opens.
Any questions can be directed to pgtc2026@manchester.ac.uk. This is also the address we will use for any conference communications.
