Postgraduate Group Theory Conference
Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh
11th-14th July 2023
The Postgraduate Group Theory Conference (PGTC) is an annual event, organised by and for PhD students in group theory (and related areas) in the UK. The conference is now entering its 25th year, and will be held at Heriot-Watt University from 11th-14th July.
PGTC is a great opportunity for PhD students and Post-docs interested in Group Theory to present a 30 minute talk in a friendly environment. Talks are not compulsory, but very much encouraged! We also have 3 invited speakers to present talks.
Please note this conference is open to students based at UK institutions only.
Thank you to everyone for coming!

General information
FAQs
Are there attendance fees?
We will ask for a contribution of £30 to go towards costs for the conference. We will cover most, if not all, accommodation costs for students staying in Edinburgh, however we cannot cover travel costs. There will also be funds available for childcare/caring costs.
Is accommodation and food provided?
We will provide 4 nights accommodation for a limited number of participants. Lunches and tea breaks will be provided, and there will also be a social dinner, the cost of which is covered.
If I give a talk, does it have to be about my PhD project?
Not necessarily! We greatly encourage all students to give a talk, but you are welcome to also discuss a fun topic or area you've recently discovered in group theory.
