Director

Ms. Tammy Tran

Ms. Tran is the Director of Bands at Punta Gorda Middle School. A Charlotte County native and graduate of Port Charlotte High School, she earned her degree in Music Education from Florida Gulf Coast University and completed her student teaching internship at Port Charlotte Middle School. During her college years, she performed with ensembles at both the University of South Florida and Florida Gulf Coast University.

Prior to joining Punta Gorda Middle School, Ms. Tran served as the Band Director at DeSoto Middle School, where she had the pleasure of growing the band program and expanding opportunities for student musicians. She also worked as a percussion instructor for Charlotte High School and other music programs throughout Southwest Florida.

Ms. Tran is passionate about helping students grow as musicians while building confidence, responsibility, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for music. As a lifelong learner herself, she regularly participates in professional development opportunities such as the International Midwest Clinic, the Florida Music Education Association (FMEA) Professional Development Conference, and the Florida Band Director Workshop. She enjoys bringing new ideas and best practices back to her classroom to inspire a love of learning and music in her students.

When she is not teaching, Ms. Tran enjoys spending time with her family, fishing, and exploring state parks.
