The PG Film Festival is open to all citizens of Utah County. There is no age requirement for participants. However, all participants will need to sign a waiver/release before their film can be shared via social media or shown at the Awards Night. A parent or guardian will need to sign the release waiver for all participants younger than 18 years old.
The PG Film Festival is open to all types of film making--live action, stop motion, animation, black and white, silent, or whatever else you can think of! Opening or closing credits are not required but are included in the total running time.
No. You can film anywhere you’d like.
Yes, you can include music, but make sure to address any copyright issues if necessary. The easiest is to use royalty free music.
Each film making team will be unique. There is no limit to how many individuals can be on a team or part of the on-screen or off-screen crew. We do recommend naming your team (your production house) for maximum film making experience!
No. Each film must be made during the PG Film Festival timeline (July 6-14). Old films will not be considered for an award.
The PG Film Festival is open to all movie makers from novices to professionals, and we hope this inspires everyone to try their hand at making a film! Films will be judged on a range of merits, so focus on your strong suits. Check out the list of resources to help you if you are new to this art.
Submit films via the Google form linked to the PG Arts Commission website (pgcityutah.gov/community/arts).
Information collected by the form includes a primary contact who is over 18 years old (including phone number and email), names of all team members (cast and crew), the film’s title, a YouTube or non-secured Google Drive link to the film, team age group information, and waiver for participants. Films must be submitted before 11:59pm, Monday, July 14th, to be considered.
To upload, you will need a Google or YouTube account.
1. Log into YouTube.com
2. Click on the “+Create” button on the upper right of the screen. Click on “Upload Videos”.
3. Click on “Select Files” and select your video.
4. Enter your video title and descriptions and continue through YouTube checks.
5. Under “Visibility”, select “Unlisted”. Click save.
All films meeting the criteria will be considered for an award. Types of awards include (but are not limited to) Judges’ Choice, Best in Age Group, Best Use of Prop, Best Use of Quote, etc. Judges are made up of members of the PG Arts Commission and a group of film professionals. Winners will be announced at the PG Film Festival Awards Night and then shared on the PG Arts social media and the website. Attendance at the Awards Night is optional but open to everyone who participated on your team.
