Dear ETSF members,

the September 2017 ETSF informal workshop in Frascati (Rome) is approaching! Thanks to those who have already pre-registered.

If others decide to come, please let us know ASAP.

Now it is time to decide what we will discuss about.

Indeed, like in Palaiseau two years ago, this workshop is centered on lively discussions of open, exciting, undiscovered, unclear questions. This means new developments, open questions, thoughts and challenges. So especially unfinished work is very welcome!

If this sounds vague to you, here it is what this workshop IS NOT ABOUT: you are not supposed to present published, clean, clear results. We expect to listen to questions rather than answers.

This scheme is based on our positive experiences in the ETSF collaboration teams.

The program will be built around the inputs from participants: therefore we ask everyone to send us an abstract (even if short) and/or ideas/topics. On this basis we will group the topics in order to organize sessions in the form of talks, round tables, panel discussions, happenings,.....

The regular workshop lasts from September 4 at 14:00 to September 7 at 17:00. There is an extra day, September 8, that will be dedicated to actually working together on specific questions and topics that come up before or during the workshop. We think it is worth a try!

Dear ETSF members,

As announced in two previous emails, the ETSF2017 workshop will take place at the INFN National Laboratories (http://w3.lnf.infn.it/) of Frascati (near Rome) from Monday 4 to Thursday 7 of September 2017, with the possibility to extend the discussions for an extra-day.

Up to now we have received about 40 positive answers; a webpage with the list of participants is in preparation. In order to start defining the format of the event in more detail, we need to receive the answer from those of you who did not react till now.

Please inform us if you intend to come, and possibly if you plan to remain an extra-day.

MOREOVER we strongly suggest to book ASAP the accommodation (all the instructions have been done in a previous email).

Indeed we are aware that in Frascati there will be probably an ESA event in the same week and then most of the suggested hotels will could be booked very soon.

Dear etsf members,

As announced in the first mail, the etsf2017 workshop will take place at the infn National Laboratories (http://w3.lnf.infn.it/) of Frascati (near Rome) from Monday 4 to Thursday 7 of September 2017, with the possibility to extend the discussions for an extra-day.

Here some practical info:

- There will be not registration fee

- Lunches will be all together at the INFN canteen, but you will have to pay yourself (average cost is 8€).

- Dinners will not be organized. In Frascati there are plenty of restaurants/pubs/pizzerie where you can dine.

- We would like to organize a social event the second or third evening

For the accommodation there are mainly two possibilities :

1) Hotel or guesthouse near the lnf-infn laboratories or in Frascati center, see “suggested accommodations" below.

Note that, at this stage, it is enough to send an email to the selected Hotel saying that you are a participant of the etsf2017 conference, and asking for a confirmation of your reservation. Remember also to confirm the total cost. In case you are requested for a deposit or credit card number ask the hotel about their cancellation policies (which may be Hotel specific)"

2) Hotel in Rome center near Stazione Termini. There is a train connection from Stazione Termini to Stazione Tor Vergata (near lnf-infn labs) that bring you at the workshop venue in 30 minutes. Note, however, that connections are present only at working hours.

By answering to this email please tell us asap if you intend to come and possibly if you plan to remain an extra-day.

Last but not least :

"if the only reason that prevents you from coming is lack of money for your travel and accommodation, please do contact the organizers".

Dear ETSF members,

This message is to officially announce our 2017 ETSF internal workshop: it will take place at the INFN National Laboratories (http://w3.lnf.infn.it/) in Frascati (a small city near Rome) from monday 4 to thursday 7 of Sept 2017.

We also foresee the possibility, for those who who would like to have further discussions, to extend their stay for an extra day.

The workshop will be based on our positive experiences in the active collaboration Teams: electron-phonon coupling, correlations, real time, and more. We will also try some unconventional ideas about how to foster constructive discussions.

This year the workshop will also include the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the ETSF - big party in sight!

Please note the dates NOW!

We will shortly circulate more information, and we will ask you whether (as we hope!) you think to come, so that we can make a planning.
