What is PFLAG?
PFLAG is the first and largest national nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. Founded more than 50 years ago, PFLAG was created by a mother and her son just three years after the Stonewall uprising and at a time when public acceptance of LGBTQ+ people was rare.

Today's PFLAG has a network of hundreds of chapters nationwide and more than 325,000 members and supporters are helping create an equitable and inclusive world where every LGBTQ+ person is safe, celebrated, empowered, and loved.
About PFLAG Homewood-Flossmoor
PFLAG Homewood-Flossmoor is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit and chapter of PFLAG National. PFLAG HF was founded in 2023. Together, we aim to create a safe, supportive space for LGBTQ+ people and their families to come together and build community. We are a grassroots organization, led by community members, parents, and advocates.
Our work is built on three pillars – support, education, and advocacy.
SUPPORT
We host monthly support meetings for adults in Homewood and Flossmoor. These meetings are designed to bring people together, wherever they are in their journey, and provide a safe space for learning, asking questions, and meeting others.
PFLAG H-F meetings are held on the 2nd Sunday of every month from 2 to 4 pm. We alternate locations between Homewood and Flossmoor.
EDUCATION
We share resources, information, and education with others, both in-person and online.
There is a lot of misinformation, growing political attacks, and hate speech directed at the LGBTQ+ community. We are doing all we can to push back against that, so that we can keep our children, our neighbors, and our community safe and healthy.
ADVOCACY
Homewood-Flossmoor has a growing LGBTQ+ population and we want to harness the power of our collective voices to make our community a better and safer place for all.
PFLAG is a nonpartisan organization, so we don’t subscribe to any one political ideology or party. Instead, our members share a commitment to protecting and advancing LGBTQ+ rights and ensuring our families can thrive.
