Abilene Christian University

Texas Tech University Health Science Center


Texas Tech University Health Science Center's Abilene Campus offers healthcare education and cutting-edge research programs.  The Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy, Julia Jones Mathews School of Population and Public Health, the School of Nursing, and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences are the four educational programs currently offered at the Abilene campus.

 

Located next to Hendrick Medical Center, the Abilene campus boasts a state-of-the-art facility, multimedia classrooms, a drug information center, a pharmacy practice laboratory, innovative technology, advanced patient simulation centers and modern research laboratories that include heralded sterile laboratory space and much more.

Big Country AHEC (BCAHEC) is the Abilene regional office of the West Texas Area Health Education Center program. BCAHEC is locally hosted by the West Central Texas Council of Governments (COG). Ensuring a healthy Big Country region, BCAHEC is part of the COG’s Center for Community Health and Development.

Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas

Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas provides comprehensive workforce development services to businesses and residents of the 19-county West Central Texas region. We assist employers in addressing workforce challenges and area residents in developing skills for the jobs of today and tomorrow.

Workforce Solutions provides a broad range of services that includes business solutions assistance, job training, workforce education, child care, and educational initiatives for adults and youth. Abilene Fire Department

The Abilene Fire Department partners with Cisco College to provide instructors and coordinators for the Cisco Fire Academy. We provide high quality education and training to ensure all Cisco College Fire Academy graduates are certified and ready to apply to any fire department in the state of Texas. Big Country Manufacturing Alliance

To strengthen our workforce with prepared and qualified professionals, future candidates must be identified and cultivated before graduating from high school. BCMA members are partnering with surrounding school districts to raise awareness of careers in manufacturing and technology among middle and high school students and their families. This is playing out in several practical ways.

BCFS Health and Human Services is a nonprofit established in 1944 specializing in community-based care for at-risk families and children, prevention and early intervention services, housing for young adults aging out of the foster care system, mental health and life skill services, advocacy and case management coordination for survivors of human trafficking, medical programs for women who are pregnant or post-partum, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences for families who have children with a disability or special need. For more than 79 years, BCFS Health and Human Services has profoundly impacted the lives of thousands of youth, children and families in a positive and caring way.

Communities In Schools|The Big Country

Communities In Schools of the Big Country was founded in Abilene, TX in 2001.  The affiliate started small by serving one campus in Abilene ISD – Ortiz Elementary.  Since its beginning, the affiliate has grown to serve 4 school districts and 1,000 students across 11 school campuses.

Current school districts served include Abilene, Wylie, Breckenridge, and Snyder ISD.
