As we work towards PFAS awareness, education, and future policy informed by risk, it is important to continue focusing on communities already impacted by years of PFAS exposure. One form of our PFAS advocacy was researching current policy and taking note of what needs remained underserved.
Considering the longevity of PFAS in the human body and the current prevalence of PFAS concentrations in public and private NC water systems, we believe that increasing access to blood testing for PFAS is vital to keeping constituents most affected by PFAS informed about their health.
Our policy brief below proposes an expansion to Bill 1043 2026 Water Safety Act: a blood-testing pilot program for residents using the most PFAS contaminated public water systems.
Please check out our policy brief as well as our informational graphics summarizing our research on PFAS concentrations in NC public water systems!
