With summer just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about our furry friends. From camp fires, fire works, swimming, hikes, crowded homes and yards, weddings, and birthday parties our pet just may get lost in the hustle and bustle. If not actually lost, maybe just a little overwhelmed.
April is ‘National Pet Safety and First Aid Month’. So why not take a moment before it all starts and think about them. Thomas Shook is offering Pet First Aid & CPR Class here in the Rockford area. As hard as we try to keep our dogs and cats safe, life sometimes gets in the way, so I am here to teach pet parents what to do when the worst happens.
Pet First Aid Classes provide skills to handle: choking, upset stomach, poisoning, seizures, insect stings, hot and cold injuries BEFORE veterinary care if available. Tom was trained under the direct supervision of ‘The Pet Safety Crusader’ (Denise Fleck).
Remember, anything on the floor or ground is fair game for our dogs and cats. Just because you can eat it doesn’t mean our pets can. We will discuss many of the good for me bad for them favorites. Many of our pets will also be traveling with us, what dangers can this pose? Fireworks, is not something most animals can handle. What should we do and is there something we can give them to ease the stress. You will learn how to do a HOME Exam, Plan for the UNEXPECTED crisis, Read LABELS correctly, Know about SEIZURES and HEAT STROKE in dogs and cats and know what to do.
Pet First Aid doesn’t replace professional medical care, but it’s what we do when the worst happens, to prevent further injury and provide comfort until we reach the Veterinarian.
