If you are a current or prospective Texas A&M student interested in pursuing an M.S. or Ph.D. on structural engineering and mechanics and you are passionate to learn and conduct research, then we would be happy to speak with you.
Our research primarily focuses on mitigating the damaging effects of natural and man-made hazards on our infrastructure by developing resilient systems incorporating novel response mechanisms and advanced materials. In doing so, our research endeavors (see current and past research here and here) combine mechanics-based modeling (including model development and computer programming), structural analysis and performance-based design methodologies, material testing, and large-scale structural testing.
Previous experience in some of these areas is desirable, but not required. Passion to learn and expand your horizons is the most desired qualification.
We also support students who would like to apply for internal or external research funding, such as the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program, or the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship.

If you are an undergraduate student that is curious about research and would like to explore potential research opportunities in structural engineering and mechanics with the objective of contributing to our efforts to mitigate the damaging effects of natural hazards in the built environment and our infrastructure, we would be happy to speak with you. There are a number of ways to participate in our research endeavors, including several undergraduate research programs at Texas A&M, such as the Engineering Honors program, the Undergraduate Summer Research Grant, and the Undergraduate Research Scholars program.
For Texas A&M undergraduate students who are interested to hands-on participate in research, we would be happy to provide advising through a 1-3 credit hour directed study (CVEN 485 Directed Studies).
