Petro Taylor in happier times
Petro Taylor allegedly was a member of the Bounty Hunters gang. He was asked to put $90 in a prison commissary account for Bounty Hunter gang leader. He may not have done it.
On December 30, 2008 his badly burned body was found by a utility worker. It turns out 8 Bounty Hunter gang members met with Mr. Taylor in a county hotel room on December 28th to discuss the matter of the missing money. They beat him severely, then wrapped him in the wire from the telephone, leaving the telephone attached with the room number and hotel name on it. The Bounty Hunters took Mr. Taylor to a location by the Gwynns Falls in Leakin Park, stabbed him 30 times, then doused him with gasoline and lit a match. He burned alive.
It didn't take long after the body was found for the police to ask a few pertinent questions to the innkeeper since the phone had "Red Carpet Inn" written on it. Within hours the police arrested chief murderer and snitcheroo, Tanisha Lawson, who quickly ratted out her 7 buddies.
6 out of the 8 arrested for this murder were teens, 4 of them women/girls. Now that the Bounty Hunters have had time to cool their heels and think about their prison life sentences one wonders if they still think they are supergangbanger badasses.
Update 01/21/11 I've been trying to figure out the sentencing on this brutal murder. You can look at this States Attorney press release:
Baltimore, MD – May 7, 2010 – The murder trial of Grechauna Rogers, 17, of the 2900 block of Ridgewood Avenue, Sierra Pyles, 20, of the 3400 block of Dudley Avenue, Anthony O. Williams, 24, of the 3400 block of St. Ambrose Avenue, and Tenisha N. Lawson, 19, of the 3600 block of Dennlyn Road is scheduled to begin 9:30AM Monday, May 10, 2010 before Judge Barry G. Williams, 540 Courthouse East, 111 N. Calvert Street. The Baltimore City grand jury indicted Rogers, Pyles, Williams and Lawson March 30, 2009 for first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and other related counts. Three other defendants charged in connection to this case, Lawrence Walker, Devin Melton and Dominique Boone pled guilty May 3, 2010 to second-degree assault and were each sentenced to ten years in prison suspend all but three years and three years probation.
Then we move on to this Investigative Voice snippet.
Two members of the city’s Bounty Hunters gang have received plea offers of 30 years in prison with 10 years suspended for their role in the death of a fellow gang member. The plea bargains were offered to Tanisha Lawson and Sierra Pyle, two female gang members who confessed to transporting Petro Taylor to Leakin Park in December 2008, where they stabbed him and set him on fire. Pyle admitted to stabbing Taylor as he lay in the trunk of the car. Lawson allegedly poured the gasoline on his body. A third female, Grechauna Rogers, who was just 16 at the time of the killing, allegedly assisted the two women by placing pillows on the grass where Taylor was laid on the ground before being set on fire. An autopsy revealed that he was alive prior to being burned.
From the case search it appears as if Grechauna Rogers pleaded guilty to 2nd Degree Murder and 1st Degree Conspiracy to commit murder on August 25, 2010.
Anthony Williams has a 1st Degree Murder and conspiracy to commit murder for Petro Taylor jury trial set for March 25, 2011 11AM Room 430E Courthouse East.
Tenisha Lawson and Sierra Pyles, in addition to their second degree murder charge, she also pleaded guilty on August 4, 2010 to conspiracy to commit murder.
The whole Bounty Hunter gang also seems to be charged with conspiracy to commit assault, which might have something to do with Anthony Williams pending jury trial.
Update 3/26/2011 Anthony Williams took an Alford plea yesterday rather than going to jury trial. An Alford plea allows one not plead guilty but admits that state has enough evidence to find him guilty. He agreed to a life sentence will all but 30 years suspended. Now the state can begin with the sentencing phase for Rogers, Lawson and Pyles. Here is a Justin Fenton article from the Sun about it.
Update 6/16/2011 I checked the DOC Locator, Tenisha Lawson, Grechauna Rogers and Sierra Pyles are now living at the Maryland Correctional Institute for Women in Jessup. Dominique Boone is at the Metropolitan Transition Center at 954 Forrest Street in Baltimore. Lawrence Walker is at the Jessup Correctional Institute. Anthony Williams, born 12/19/85 is at the Eastern Correctional Institute in Westover, MD.
I didn't even see this before but Grechauna Rogers has a Facebook page. She's single and likes men. I have no idea how that is going to work out for her considering the next few years she'll be around a lot of women, perhaps she'll rethink that. Anyhoo, Grechauna's flipping everyone the bird in her pic.
