If you want a comfortable, portable over-ear solution with deep bass for long mobile gaming sessions, choose PETPET Black Noise Reducing; if you need ultra-portable earbuds with a durable, tangle-free cable and high sensitivity for active movement, choose EXMAX DEP-02.
• PETPET Black Noise Reducing: Its 40mm neodymium drivers deliver powerful super bass, but the on-ear design and retractable cable can feel less secure during intense physical activity.
• EXMAX DEP-02: The soft TPE cable offers exceptional durability and a perfect 102cm length for freedom of movement, yet the in-ear form factor may lack the comfort some users prefer for all-day wear.
• Best For: Choose the PETPET for stationary or seated gaming where sound isolation and bass depth matter most; choose the EXMAX for gym workouts, commuting, or gaming on the go where portability is king.
The PETPET Black Noise Reducing headset is built around the concept of immersive audio without the bulk of a full studio monitor. At its core lies a pair of 40mm powerful neodymium drivers, which are engineered to produce what the manufacturer calls "super bass." For someone who plays mobile games where explosions, engine roars, and environmental sounds define the experience, this driver size is a significant advantage. The frequency range spans from 20Hz to 20,000Hz, ensuring that both the rumble of low-end effects and the clarity of high-frequency cues are present. This makes it an ideal candidate for gamers who prioritize auditory immersion over everything else.
Comfort is another pillar of this device's design. With padded soft cushions designed to sit on the ear rather than inside it, the PETPET aims to reduce fatigue during extended play. The enclosure materials include fabric, silicone, or leather options, which generally provide a softer touch against the skin compared to hard plastics. The noise control method here relies on sound isolation provided by the cushioning and the fit of the earcup. If you find yourself needing to block out background chatter while focusing on your game strategy, the physical seal of these on-ear headphones helps achieve that separation without needing electronic active noise cancellation.

However, this product is not designed for everyone. The foldable design and lightweight construction make it excellent for travel, but the retractable cable feature suggests a focus on neatness rather than heavy-duty endurance. While it works seamlessly with laptops, desktops, gaming consoles, and telephones via a standard 3.5 mm jack, the on-ear placement might become uncomfortable for users with larger heads or those who wear glasses, as the clamping force could press the arms of the glasses into the temple. If you need to communicate with teammates via voice chat directly through the headset, you would need to use a separate mic or your phone's interface. This headset is best suited for the player who sits down, puts them on, and tunes out the world to enjoy the audio landscape of their game.
The EXMAX DEP-02 takes a completely different approach, prioritizing mobility and ruggedness. These are in-ear earbuds designed to stay put, utilizing a compact and lightweight design that fits discreetly in the ear canal. The key differentiator here is the cable itself. Crafted from soft and elastic Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE), the cable is explicitly engineered to resist wear, corrosion, and tangling. In a real-world scenario, this means you can toss them into a bag, pull them out, and they won't be a knotted mess waiting to be untangled. The material has an extremely strong stretching ability, which adds a layer of durability that traditional rubber cables often lack. For a gamer who moves around, perhaps pacing while playing or using the device while commuting, this resilience is a practical necessity.
Audio performance on the EXMAX DEP-02 is driven by advanced shock-absorbing membranes and audio units that aim for natural clarity and ultra-low bass. With an impedance of only 16 ohms and a sensitivity of 123 dB, these earbuds are highly efficient. They will likely produce loud, clear sound even when paired with devices that don't have massive power output, such as older smartphones or basic MP3 players. The frequency response matches the PETPET at 20Hz to 20kHz, so the theoretical range of sound is identical. However, the in-ear shape provides a different kind of sound isolation. By sitting directly in the ear canal, they naturally block more external noise than the on-ear cups of the PETPET, which is crucial for hearing subtle audio cues in competitive mobile gaming.
The length of the cable is precisely calculated at 102cm (40 inches). This is a specific metric that matters for usability. It is long enough to allow free movement whether you are walking, exercising, or doing office work, yet short enough to avoid being cumbersome or getting caught on things. This balance eliminates the anxiety of a cable that is too short or too long. The design is versatile, compatible with MP3/MP4 players, DVDs, smartphones, tablets, and various communication applications. It is the perfect choice for the user who needs a reliable, durable pair of earbuds that can handle the rigors of daily life and active gaming without breaking or tangling.
• Best for battery life → Neither requires charging as both are wired, but the EXMAX's 16-ohm impedance ensures consistent volume from any source without drain concerns.
• Best for bass depth → PETPET Black Noise Reducing, thanks to its larger 40mm drivers and dedicated "Super Bass" engineering.
• Best for durability → EXMAX DEP-02, due to the specialized TPE cable that resists knotting, tearing, and corrosion.
• Best for comfort during long sessions → PETPET Black Noise Reducing, if you prefer the pressure distribution of on-ear padding over in-ear insertion.
• Best for active gaming → EXMAX DEP-02, because the in-ear fit and tangle-free cable allow for unrestricted movement.
• Best for sound isolation → EXMAX DEP-02, as the in-ear design typically blocks more ambient noise than the on-ear cups.
• Best for storage and portability → PETPET Black Noise Reducing, given its foldable design and included protective case.
• Best value for versatility → Both are wired 3.5mm solutions, but the EXMAX offers a longer cable for more room to move.
After weighing the specifications and design philosophies, I recommend the EXMAX DEP-02 for the modern mobile gamer. While the PETPET offers a nice bass experience, the EXMAX wins on the critical front of durability and usability. The TPE cable is a game-changer for anyone who travels or plays on the go; there is nothing worse than fighting a tangled mess before a match starts. The 102cm cable length gives you the freedom to move without restriction, and the high sensitivity ensures you hear every footstep and explosion clearly. For earbuds for mobile gaming, the EXMAX DEP-02 provides the robust, reliable connection needed to keep you focused on the screen rather than your gear.
Yes, both models support 3.5mm connections found on most gaming devices, though the EXMAX DEP-02 is specifically noted for its suitability in various multimedia applications and its in-ear design offers better isolation for competitive play.
The EXMAX DEP-02 likely provides superior passive noise isolation because the in-ear tips create a tighter seal within the ear canal compared to the on-ear pads of the PETPET model.
Based on the provided data sheets, neither the PETPET Black Noise Reducing nor the EXMAX DEP-02 lists a built-in microphone, so you would need to use your device's native microphone for team communication.
The EXMAX DEP-02 features a premium TPE cable designed to be stretch-resistant and anti-tangle, whereas the PETPET utilizes a retractable cable mechanism which prioritizes compact storage over the extreme flexibility of the EXMAX design.
