Peter Blottman is a successful published photographer specializing in travel, nature and landscape imagery. He also creates concept imagery and abstracts used for commercial advertising. While much of his travel photography is focused on the United States national parks, he photographs “wherever interesting light illuminates the landscape or the people and wildlife that live there”.  While gravitating to photography at a young age, Peter also has a passion for the weather and had a 32 year career working for the National Weather Service as a Meteorologist. Before his government service, he chased storms across the American high plains during his graduate school days. One such chase early in his career resulted in the capture of six simultaneously occurring landspouts over the Texas Panhandle. These images were published in Weatherwise magazine as well as refereed meteorological journal articles. Upon retirement, he has been able to focus more of his time towards his other love, photography and travel. Peter’s work has appeared in textbooks, commercial advertising and magazines, including National Geographic, Travel+Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, Forbes, Scientific American, Vanity Fair, Popular Mechanics, and Men’s Journal. His concept imagery, with a specialty of using creative light painting techniques, are used on corporate web sites, product packaging and brochures. He has also provided photography for music album cover art.  Commercial work includes shooting for brands such as Amazon, Unisys, Credit Suisse, UniCredit, Nissui and American Airlines.
