Edit.nl
I registered the domain name www.edit.nl on May 22, 1997. At the time, I was working as a publisher at Koninklijke PBNA, a subsidiary of the publishing company Elsevier, and had developed a plan to fully digitize the company, which was active in providing correspondence courses. The internet was still in its infancy, but it showed great promise. Unfortunately, my plans were not taken seriously, so I decided to resign and start my own internet publishing company. That became Edit. 

Digital publishing
In the early days, I built websites and databases myself and, in cooperation with medical professionals, launched three of my own digital publishing ventures in the healthcare sector: Etas for doctors, Fus for pharmacists, and Consumed for consumers. My goal was to get a sense of how the internet could best be utilized by other publishers whom I hoped to turn into clients . 

Technology + Design =  EXED internet
This approach succeeded, and from that point on, Edit began to grow—not least because the company merged with a design studio, Exploi, in May 2000. This allowed me to combine my knowledge of the nascent internet technology and market with graphic design expertise. The new company was named EXED internet, with Edit and Exploi as the two partners. 

Mixcom Media Group
In 2010, EXED, Edit.nl, and Exploi jointly merged with the publishing house Mix Media to form the Mixcom Media Group. In 2017 and 2018, Mixcom was acquired by the Breemhaar Group, a conglomerate of companies from various industries, including publishing houses and graphic design and internet companies.

And what about the company where it all began: Edit?
I retained Edit as my personal limited liability company (BV), through which I currently organize my academic activities: research and writing. The website Edit.nl is now part of the website Vandruenen.com.
