Montreal is rich in history and culture. Any city that's a melting pot of different cultures is a place worth exploring through its gastronomy scene. With the best choices for fine dining and takeout food, a food crawl in Montreal won't be complete without a taste of its best bars, says Montreal native Peter Triassi.
Cantine Poincaré is a pub that has been converted into a karaoke bar, which has taken an eco-friendly approach in serving drinks. To lessen its carbon footprint, the pub serves its own beer selection, low-intervention wine, and classic cocktails with a twist. Le Cathcart meanwhile is the newest food hall in the city. The newly opened, architecturally pleasing food hall comes with a full bar with great choices of craft beers, wine, and house cocktails.
MaBrasserie is a home for different producers throughout the city. Its massive industrial area acts as a tasting room, with a crawling wooden bar complete with more than 30 different draft beers. Le Réservoir has recently revamped its menu to triumph. It's one of those bars that serve superb food partnered with a great selection of wines and ciders—they don't come around often.
Nhau Bar is a hidden cocktail bar frequented by after-work friend bunches, couples on dates, and tourists. The bar is located in the basement of Lao chef Ross Louangsignotha's Hà Bia Hoi, along Montreal's Business District. According to Peter Triassi, the bar is a dream for individuals who love Southeast Asian-inspired. It's hard not to adore Nhau for its vibe.
