Peter-Kade Wright

Hey! I’m Peter-Kade and I use He/Him pronouns. I am a costume designer and stitcher. I have grown up around theatre. It’s started as a fun way to spend time with my dad - helping him out at community theatre over the summer. Sewing has also been a great love for me. It started with quilting, which meant I got to share something with my mom and great grandpa. It then evolved into sewing clothing items. Then my love for it grew as I was able to be in my school shows. When I was little I would put together the most over the top outfits and call it ‘Kadetastic’ fashion. Gardening also had a big impact on my life. My dad always took great pride in cultivating a beautiful garden and asked for help (enlisted it) from me and my siblings.  This helped show me the great variety of colors that the world can have. 

I keep that connection to my childhood with my art, by playing with different colors and patterns together. Recently I’ve been connecting to flowers that I grew up around, as I explore more with them like learning more about Victorian flower language. I also play with what colors can show people about the character, whether it be what they hide or what they show.

I also love helping others achieve their vision, whether that’s through crafting the garment myself or helping a director piece together what their vision is. I strive to help actors and fellow technicians, as well. To feel welcomed and accepted in theatre despite differences they may have like disabilities or being LGBTQ, or other minorities. I have first hand experience with not feeling included due to my disabilities and it sucks, so it’s important that I help make an environment that includes every one who is there. 

More about me is that I enjoy cosplaying. It combines many of my interests and is a fun way to explore media and interpret it. I also love to write and explore different worlds and rules within that writing. I love to see art and highly value human made art. If you see me around, come say hi, I may seem standoffish but as anyone who knows me will tell you, I’m just a bit shy.
