Greetings readers and pet lovers of all ages! Â
So, a little bit about me...
I am a retired school teacher with over 30 years experience in northern Illinois - teaching experience at the elementary, middle school, and secondary levels. I received my Bachelor's degree in Business Education in 1987 from Illinois State University and my Master's degree in Reading Education from Rockford University in 1997.Â
My love for animals inspired me to write children’s picture books that promote humane education along with improving literacy, building character and developing social-emotional skills. Volunteering at local animal shelters gave me the insight to begin writing pet's stories: a voice for the voiceless if you will. Although their journeys may start out a bit rocky, we strive to work for happy endings. To Learn more about Pet Journey Press, click HERE.
I believe it's important to begin pet education early on in a child's life in order to plant the seeds of kindness. It's the best way to create a more compassionate world. Kids and pets go hand in hand because animals are one of the first topics children really connect to and understand. So the key to building compassion, kindness, love and responsibility toward animals is to provide children with as many stories about pets as possible. There just aren't enough humane titles. We must write more!

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man.Â

“But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
    or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;
or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
    or let the fish in the sea inform you.
Which of all these does not know
    that the hand of the Lord has done this?
In his hand is the life of every creature
    and the breath of all mankind.Â
Whenever we, as a society, allow an animal to die from starvation or abuse, or whenever a euthanizing agent enters the bloodstream of a healthy animal, we wound humanity.
