Esports at SUNY Potsdam is a new venture and is expanding quickly. This is why keeping the fans who follow our account informed is critical. News is anything from change in a schedule, to new team members, to ECAC headlines, and anything in between that is relevant to the program.
This may be the most crucial thing to tweet, many fans are unable to view the streaming live, but are still interested to see how our teams are doing in competition.
As a team, it is not only important to understand each other while playing, but when doing outside activities that do not involve competition, such as photos or videos from a team building activity or community outreach project.
The Instagram account is currently shared with the Potsdam Video Gaming Club.
All photos posted to Instagram should be related to Esports, whether it be competitions, practice, or team building events. Any photos in question should be approved by administration or Dr. Betrus before posting.
All photos should be original content and not downloads from a different website.
Discord is an important tool in the Esports and video gaming communities, so having a Discord account is critical since this will be the primary method of communication.
Once you have downloaded the app and created an account, you will need to request access to the SUNY Potsdam Esports server. Dr. Betrus or the Esports President can send you an invitation to the server.
Once you are in the server, make sure you are using your real name and not an alias so we can keep track of who is in the server. In the Introduction channel, introduce yourself by announcing who you are and what you will be doing in the Esports program, whether you're playing a game or joining the support team.
Most of your interactions with teammates in the server will be in the General Text channel. There are also specific channels that administration can grant you access to including channels dedicated solely to the individual games. The extent of your access will depend on your status.
The ECAC Esports Discord server is where the ECAC makes announcements and publishes standings, results, and information about games and other schools in the conference. If you are named a team captain or part of the administration, it will be very important to join this server as this is where your primary communication with other schools will take place. Should you need access to the server, Dr. Betrus or the Esports President will send an invitation to join.
