If you want a versatile, washable sports headband that doubles as a sleep aid with the latest Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, choose Perytong Sleep Headphones; if you need an all-in-one blackout mask that blocks light while delivering stereo sound for side sleepers, choose Tanouve Sleep Mask Headphones.
• Perytong: Best strength is its dual-purpose design as a breathable, washable sports headband with advanced Bluetooth 5.4; trade-off is it lacks built-in light blocking for total darkness.
• Tanouve: Best strength is the 3-in-1 integration of a sleep mask and headphones for zero-pressure eye coverage; trade-off is it uses older Bluetooth 5.0 technology compared to the newer standard.
• Who each pick is for: Perytong fits those who sweat, run, or need to wash their gear regularly, while Tanouve suits travelers or side sleepers who prioritize total darkness over active sports use.
The Perytong Sleep Headphones are engineered for people who view their sleep gear as part of a broader lifestyle. This isn't just a device for lying in bed; it is designed to be a piece of athletic equipment that transitions seamlessly from a late-night meditation session to a morning jog. The core appeal here lies in its construction. It features a durable braided cord with a breathable mesh lining, making it incredibly soft and lightweight. I find this specific combination of materials to be a game-changer for anyone who tends to get hot during the night or sweats easily during workouts. The wide range of 9.8 to 10.6 inches ensures it stretches to fit various head sizes without feeling restrictive or slipping off during movement.
For the practical buyer, the fact that this unit is washable is a massive advantage. Unlike traditional electronic headphones that must be wiped down carefully, you can simply remove the speakers and clean the band itself. This level of hygiene is essential for long-term use, especially if you plan to wear this for intense yoga sessions, running, or gym workouts where sweat accumulation is inevitable. The inclusion of a built-in microphone means you won't miss calls even when your phone is across the room, and the volume control buttons allow you to handle tracks without reaching for your device.
However, this product is not for everyone. If your primary concern is complete sensory deprivation—specifically total darkness—the Perytong will fall short because it does not block light. It is essentially a high-tech headband. You would still need a separate eye mask if you require pitch-black conditions to fall asleep. Furthermore, while it is comfortable on the side, the speakers sit on the ear rather than inside the canal, which some users might find slightly bulkier than earbuds, though it avoids the pain of pressure on the inner ear. It is an ideal choice for the person who wants one accessory to handle music, calls, and comfort during both rest and activity, provided they don't mind seeing a little light.

The Tanouve Sleep Mask Headphones take a fundamentally different approach by merging the function of a sleep mask with audio capabilities into a single, cohesive unit. This 3-in-1 design targets the specific needs of side sleepers and light-sensitive individuals who struggle to drift off when even a sliver of light enters their eyes. The ergonomic design is built to minimize pressure on the eyes, a common complaint with stiff masks, while the hypoallergenic and breathable fabrics ensure comfort against sensitive skin. If you have ever woken up with red marks around your eyes from a tight mask, the "zero pressure" claim of this design feels like a necessary evolution in sleep tech.
This product shines in scenarios where darkness is non-negotiable. Whether you are traveling on a plane, taking a nap in a bright office, or trying to sleep in a shared bedroom, the blackout feature provides a private, dark environment that a simple headband cannot offer. The HD stereo speakers deliver immersive sound for podcasts and music, allowing you to relax without the intrusion of external noise. The battery life supports up to 10 hours of continuous playback after a quick 2-hour charge, which is sufficient for overnight use or long-haul flights. The flexible, stretchable headband ensures a universal fit for men, women, and teens, making it a thoughtful gift for anyone seeking better rest.
That said, there are limitations to consider regarding its versatility. While it excels as a sleep tool, it is not designed for high-intensity physical activity. The materials, while breathable, do not seem to have the same washable, heavy-duty durability as the Perytong option. If you intend to wear this while running or sweating heavily, the fabric might retain moisture or odor more quickly than a dedicated sports headband. Additionally, it relies on Bluetooth 5.0, which, while stable and low-latency, is technically older than the 5.4 standard found in the competitor. It is the perfect solution for someone whose main goal is deep, dark relaxation, but it may feel too specialized for active users who need their gear to double as workout equipment.
• Best for light blocking → Tanouve Sleep Mask Headphones, as it integrates a full blackout mask directly into the design.
• Best for active sports and washing → Perytong Sleep Headphones, due to its washable mesh lining and durable braided cord construction.
• Best for battery efficiency → Both offer 10 hours of playtime, but Perytong takes slightly longer to charge (2.5 hours) versus Tanouve (2 hours).
• Best for modern connectivity → Perytong Sleep Headphones, utilizing the newer Bluetooth 5.4 for potentially faster pairing and stability.
• Best for side sleepers → Tanouve Sleep Mask Headphones, specifically engineered with zero-pressure zones for the eyes.
• Best for versatility → Perytong Sleep Headphones, functioning effectively as both a sleep aid and a standalone sports headband.
• Best for material breathability → Tanouve Sleep Mask Headphones, using hypoallergenic fabrics designed for direct skin contact over the eyes.
• Best for call handling → Both include built-in microphones, but Perytong adds physical volume control buttons for easier management during movement.
In my opinion, if you are looking for a single device to replace multiple accessories and need something that can handle sweat, runs, and daily wear without losing its shape, the Perytong Sleep Headphones are the clear winner. The ability to wash the band and the inclusion of Bluetooth 5.4 make it a future-proof investment for an active lifestyle. However, if your only priority is sleeping in total darkness and you rarely engage in vigorous exercise, the Tanouve Sleep Mask Headphones offers a superior experience by eliminating light pollution entirely. Ultimately, I recommend the Perytong for most people because its flexibility allows it to adapt to more situations, whereas the Tanouve is strictly a sleep-focused tool.
Neither product is described as fully waterproof for submersion, though both feature sweat-resistant materials suitable for workouts and general moisture exposure. You should check the specific water resistance ratings before exposing them to rain or pools.
Both devices are designed to provide approximately 10 hours of continuous audio playback, which covers a full night's sleep or a long day of travel without needing a recharge.
Yes, both products are designed with ultra-thin speakers or zero-pressure zones specifically to prevent discomfort when sleeping on your side, unlike rigid traditional headphones.
You do not need one for the Tanouve model since it includes a built-in blackout mask, but you will need a separate eye mask if you choose the Perytong headphones as they do not block light.
