Film as a form can be about you the person, the immediate community you live in, or the larger world that you are a part of. It is about the limitless possibility of human expression through the medium we know as film!
Through this project you can explore the following:
A film can be deeply personal or social/political, the question is how do you relate to that idea?
Understanding the process of making a film that involves pre-production (ideation, conceptualization), production (the actual process of shooting a film), and post-production (editing the film)
Experimenting with film form and style.
Create a film based on an idea you may feel passionate about it could have a theme that is social, cultural, political, emotional, or spiritual.
What’s the BIG IDEA - what draws or inspires you?
Your film could be deeply personal or social or political, it’s important to understand how do you as an individual relate to that idea.
Once you have clarity about the subject of your exploration, look at the style that you want to take up, fiction or documentary?
Would you like to make the film individually OR is it a collaborative venture?
Once the above-mentioned milestones are achieved - film production will need to be broken up into the following components: Creative & aesthetics, budgeting & logistics, post-production process that will involve editing
The Creative process will begin with the writing of a concept note, which translates into a script which eventually gets modified into a screenplay
The SCRIPTING process is a significant part of the filming process as it lays the foundation of the film that still exists in your imagination.
The script can take the form of a STORYBOARD where every shot you have imagined can be put down on paper.
The LOGISTICAL process will take you through selecting your location, the props that you may require, and the timelines involved.
Once the above two have been crossed over and you have spent time actually filming your story, and you are satisfied with the footage procured, you could edit it using different software, the easiest being iMovies.
Throughout this process, you could maintain a film journal that documents the creative journey of an idea that gets translated into an actual film.
You are also required to maintain your reflection journal. To access the reflection journal, please visit PP Overview page
