The High-Intensity Drinking (HID) study is a multi-method longitudinal study that provides comprehensive data about the causes and consequences of HID. Over one year, young adults aged 21-29 complete an in-lab alcohol administration session, multiple ecological momentary assessment (EMA) survey portions, real-time BAC assessments, and online surveys to provide intensive data about drinking behaviors. The HID study focuses on four core addiction constructs (i.e., reward sensitivity, incentive salience, impulsivity, and negative affectivity) and their influences on substance use.
The Drinking Behaviors Over the Legal Transition (BOLT) study is an intensive longitudinal study that will provide comprehensive data about the changes in alcohol use patterns and consequences associated with turning 21. The study will collect data on emerging adults 6 months before and after their 21st birthday. Participants will complete multiple ecological momentary assessment (EMA) survey portions, real-time BAC assessments, and online surveys to provide intensive data about drinking behaviors. The BOLT study focuses on four core addiction constructs (i.e., cognitive control, reward, response to alcohol, and negative affectivity) and their influences on the legal transition.
