About Mr. Scheetz

Welcome to the Band Program at Perry Hall Middle!! I am excited for my sixth year at Perry Hall as Band Director and Fine Arts Chair!! I am also extremely excited and humbled to be the Perry Hall Middle School Teacher of the Year 2024-2025! Previously I spent 8 1/2 years at Parkville Middle as Band Director. We have some exciting things planned this year in the music department and to continue to grow. Our award winning program has consistently placed on grade level in our County Assessments and have received Superior ratings at the Music in the Parks Festivals. Most recently, the PHMS Wind Ensemble received a I (Superior) on grade level 3 music at the Maryland All State Festival. We also consistently have students participate in Baltimore County All County Band and Solo and Ensemble Festival.

Mr. Scheetz has written curriculum for Baltimore County for many years and have instructed Summer Music Camp for his entire tenure in BCPS. In 2019, Mr. Scheetz wrote curriculum for Nafme and the Library of Congress using primary sources in the fall of 2019. The Scheetz's have presented at the 2019 annual MMEA Conference on "Accessible Technology in the Music Classroom". Mr. Scheetz has also had the privilege of presenting at numerous County Professional Development Days throughout the years. 

Previous to BCPS, Mr. Scheetz taught in the Lower Moreland Township School District and Dallastown Area School Districts in Pennsylvania. He has also worked with Spring Grove Marching and Indoor Percussion and served as the Percussion Director at Dallastown High School. He has worked with composers Sam Hazo, Dr. Quincy Hilliard, world renowned trombonist Wycliffe Gordon and the woodwind master of the Dave Matthews Band Jeff Coffin. 

Mr. Scheetz graduated Cum Laude in 2009 from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Music Education.  I was a trombone major however I am a brass specialist and have a background in percussion as well.

Mr. Scheetz lives in Hanover, Pennsylvania with his incredible wife @mrsscheetzmusic who is the Band Director at Hereford Middle School, our daughter Madelynn and son Jackson! He loves spending time with my amazing family and friends! Being originally from outside of Philadelphia, his favorite sports teams are your Super Bowl Champion Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers!  He is an avid fitness nut and bicyclist. He has completed numerous rides including the 120 mile Ride to Conquer Cancer, ACS Bridge to Beach Century (100 miles), Tour De Shore, and most recently rode 100 miles for the "Great Cycle Challenge".
