The goal of my room is to create a fun and engaging space for children to explore their world as they see it. I desire to let this space be one of the safest places for children to do some of their hardest work. The room holds items to engage every developmental level for emotional and mental exploration.
I approach play therapy from a wholistic perspective: body, heart, and mind. What is the body experiencing? What is the heart feeling? What is the brain thinking? As I work with children, I help them become more aware of the body, mind, and heart connection so they can have more of an opportunity to self-soothe, practice emotional regulation, and reframe negative thinking.
I have a multitude of toys for a variety of learners. There is an opportunity for visual, kinesthetic, tactile, and auditory learners to engage in emotional and mental exploration. Through their natural language of play, children use toys, games, art, and other activities to communicate mind, body, and heart truths. Play allows children a psychological distance from their hurt allowing them to engage their hurt a little easier.
