How can I check where my apps send data?
HOW TO ANALYSE IOS APPS USING PRIVACY REPORT
You can use Apple’s Privacy Report to check your iOS apps and see where they are sending data.
On your iPhone go to Settings > Privacy and then scroll down to the bottom and select App Privacy Report. From that screen select Turn On App Privacy Report.
2. Once step 1 is complete you can continue using your apps as you would normally and Apple will record when apps make network connections (send/receive data over the internet).
3. When you go back to App Privacy Report you should start to see some data about what network activity has been recorded for each app.
4. If you want to get more insight into a specific app you can click on it and see which specific domains the app has been connecting to. Some you may recognize such as domains that end in apple.com – examples of why an app might connect to such domains include things like checking the status of an in-app purchase (which will be triggered if you load the in-app purchase page on period Privacy period).
WILL I SEE NETWORK ACTIVITY ON PERIOD PRIVACY PERIOD AND IF SO, WHY?
period Privacy period doesn’t send any of your cycle data anywhere. So during general use such as recording a new cycle start date, or checking to see when the next cycle is predicted to start there will be no network activity at all.
The only time the app makes internet connections is if you load the ‘store view in the app’ by clicking on a link that provides upgrade functionality, then the app needs to communicate with Apple. When this happens you will see network activity, however you will note that domains contacted all end with apple.com and such activity is only triggered when that functionality is used. When this happens it will look something like this (see image left).
What information will period Privacy period ask me for?
You do not need to sign up for an account, which means we will not ask you for your email address, name or phone number to use the app. In order to predict cycles and fertility windows the app will ask you to record period start dates as well as your cycle length at set up (if you know it).
