Lin Sun is a director at Magic Leap, leading the deep learning research and productization. Prior to joining Magic Leap, he was the head of perception at Samsung Strategy and Innovation Center (SSIC), leading the research and development of perception functions for autonomous robots. From 2016 to 2017, he was a research scholar in Stanford AI lab (SAIL) under the supervision of Prof. Silvio Savarese. Lin Sun holds a Ph.D. from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), supervised by Prof. Bert E. Shi and D. Y. Yeung. His research interests include computer vision, machine learning and deep learning, particularly, action recognition, video analysis, human pose estimation, 2D/3D object detection and tracking, large scale image classification and retrieval, etc. He has more than 40 papers in top conferences and journals and holds more than 30 patents in China and the US.
Prateek is a Senior Manager, Computer vision at Magic Leap, leading the team on Object recognition and Scene Understanding. Previously, he led the team for large scale persistence on the device and is one of the core members for tracking and mapping algorithms on Magic Leap One.
Prior to Magic Leap, he got his Masters from Georgia Tech, where he worked on creating semantically rich maps. Prateek, has done his undergraduate studies from IIT BHU, also worked at IIIT Hyderabad on dynamic motion segmentation for autonomous cars.
David is a lead computer vision engineer at Magic Leap and technical lead in the team on Object Recognition and Pose Estimation. Prior to joining Magic Leap, he worked at Amazon’s drone delivery program PrimeAir where he worked on 3D scene understanding and object detection.
David got his computer science Ph.D. from Graz University of Technology in Austria under the supervision of Prof. Horst Bischof where he conducted research on improving depth sensing by sensor fusion, superresolution and scene flow estimation using convex energy minimization and machine learning.
Frank Steinbruecker leads the team researching large-scale and high-accuracy environment mapping at Magic Leap. He has been with Magic Leap since 2014, when he started the dense environment reconstruction team, and has worked in multiple areas related to environment perception.
Frank holds a PhD in computer science from Technical University Munich, where he conducted research on large-scale correspondence problems in computer vision.
Mohan Kandra is a Director, Software engineer in Perception team at Magic Leap, leading World Reconstruction and Large scale 3D mapping teams. The team is working on research and productization of real time 3d reconstruction on Magic Leap devices and cloud based large scale 3d mapping. He led the team in delivering World Reconstruction features (Meshing, Planes, and Raycast) on Magic Leap One.
In his 16+ years of industrial experience with multiple companies, he worked on product development on different DSP cores, OS and technology domains. He holds a Masters degree in Systems Science and Automation from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.
Lomesh Agarwal leads the Perception team at Magic Leap. He leads a cross functional team working on end-to-end delivery of computer vision and deep learning stack on Magic Leap platform. Prior to joining Magic Leap, Lomesh worked on various companies over a 20+ year-period including 14+ years at Intel where he led teams working on audio and camera stack for Intel Android/Windows mobile.
