Every culture adapts pizza to its own unique taste. Some interesting and famous variations include Chicago-style pizza or Hawaiian pizza (which, as we know, has nothing to do with Hawaii). In this line of unique pizzas, a distinctly Hungarian twist is the Hungarian-style pizza. We Hungarians love hearty, rich, meaty dishes, and our pizza reflects this preference.
Instructions:
Place the flour in a bowl, add the salt, oil, and yeast activated in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Add enough lukewarm water to bring the dough together, and knead until smooth and elastic. Once the dough is pliable and springy, sprinkle the top with flour, cover it, and let it rise until it doubles in size.
For the tomato sauce, heat the oil in a pan, add the flour, and lightly brown it. Stir in the tomato paste and a bit of water, and let it simmer. Season with salt, pepper, sugar, and pizza seasoning, then let it cook until thickened.
Once the dough has risen (about double in size), roll it out on a greased pizza pan. Spread the tomato sauce over the dough, then layer the sliced smoked sausage, ham, bacon, and hot pepper on top. Finally, sprinkle with grated cheese.
Place the pizza in a preheated oven and bake at high temperature until the bottom is slightly crisp and golden brown. Check occasionally by lifting the pizza with a knife to ensure it's cooked to your liking.
