Combinatorics is a fast-growing area of mathematics in which researchers study different types of discrete problems, ranging from graph theory to arithmetic combinatorics or set systems. One big focus in modern combinatorics is the study of extremal (furthering our understanding of "best-case" or "worst-case" behaviours) and probabilistic (often yielding information on the "average-case" behaviour) problems about different discrete structures, and these two lines are often intertwined. Our research aims to bring together tools and problems from both lines of work to further develop our understanding of combinatorics.
This website aims to collect all the relevant information related to the Probabilistic and Extremal Perspectives in Combinatorics (PEPCo) research project, funded by the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades through a 2025 Proyecto de Generación de Conocimiento (reference number PID2025-170344NA-I00).
Through this website, you may find further information about the main research directions for the project, the members of the work team, the research outputs, and the different activities which we organise.
