Pennyken ("the app") is a personal finance tracker built around a simple idea: your financial data is yours. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and what — if anything — leaves your device.
## The short version
- Everything you enter in Pennyken (transactions, accounts, budgets, bills, savings goals) is stored **only on your device**. We have no server, no user accounts, and no way to see your financial data.
- Pennyken never connects to your bank. All data is entered by you, manually.
- We do not sell data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
- The only data that leaves your device is the minimal, anonymous technical data used by our paywall provider (Superwall) and Apple to process subscriptions.
## Data you enter in the app
Transactions, account names and balances, spending categories, budgets and limits, recurring bills, income, savings goals, contributions, and notes are stored in a local database on your device. This data:
- never leaves your device;
- is not accessible to us or to any third party;
- is included in your device backups if you have iCloud or computer backups enabled (this is handled by iOS, under your control);
- is permanently deleted when you delete the app or use the app's data-reset option.
If you use the app's export feature, a file containing your data is generated on your device. Where you send or store that file is entirely up to you.
## Face ID / passcode lock
If you enable the app lock, authentication is performed entirely by iOS using Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Pennyken never sees, stores, or transmits your biometric data — the app only receives a yes/no answer from the system.
## Notifications
Bill reminders, budget alerts, and goal reminders are **local notifications**, scheduled and delivered on your device by iOS. No notification content is sent to any server.
## Subscriptions and the data that supports them
Pennyken offers an optional paid subscription, processed by Apple through your App Store account. We never see your payment details — Apple handles all billing.
To display paywalls and manage subscription status, the app uses the **Superwall** SDK. Superwall receives limited technical data from the app, such as:
- an anonymous, app-specific device identifier (not your name, email, or Apple ID);
- device and app information (device model, iOS version, app version, language, region);
- paywall and subscription events (e.g., that a paywall was viewed, that a purchase was started or completed).
This data is used to operate the paywall and measure its performance. It does **not** include any of your financial data — your transactions, budgets, and goals are never shared with Superwall or anyone else. Superwall's own privacy practices are described at [superwall.com/privacy](https://superwall.com/privacy).
Apple also processes standard App Store data when you purchase a subscription, as described in Apple's privacy policy.
## Data we collect ourselves
None. Pennyken has no analytics of its own, no crash-reporting service of its own, and no server. We cannot see who uses the app or how.
## Children
Pennyken is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
## Your rights and choices
Because your data lives only on your device, you are always in full control:
- **Access / export:** use the app's export feature at any time.
- **Deletion:** use the app's reset option or delete the app.
- **Notifications:** can be disabled anytime in iOS Settings.
- **Subscription:** managed and cancelable anytime in your App Store account settings.
If you are in a region with specific privacy rights (such as the GDPR in the EU or similar laws elsewhere), note that we hold no personal data about you on any server, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, or erase on your behalf — your device is the only copy.
## Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it at this address and update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes (for example, if a future version ever adds optional cloud sync) will be clearly announced in the app.
