About the Service:
Pennsylvania (PA) Lead Risk Assessor Practice Course
The Pennsylvania (PA) Lead Risk Assessor Practice Course is a training course that will introduce you to the skills and knowledge needed to assess the risk of lead hazards in residential buildings. The course is intended to be an introduction to lead-based paint (LBP) as it applies to residential buildings. It provides information on the history, sources, health effects and dangers of LBP and its removal, as well as what constitutes a safe work environment during removal activities. The course includes hands-on activities that teach how to conduct an inspection on a residential building for LBP hazards and how to assess whether or not those hazards pose an imminent danger of harm.
This course uses lecture materials and exercises which are designed around actual scenarios involving a property owner/renter, who has been awarded a HUD grant to remove all LBP from their home. This scenario is used throughout the course material to help you understand what can happen if an assessment is done incorrectly or incompletely.
