THON is a 46 hour dance marathon held at the Bryce Jordan Center every year in order to spread awareness and raise money to fund childhood cancer research. THON is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world with 16,500 volunteers, 204,000,000 dollars raised, and 4,800 families helped. THON is a year-long effort with countless fundraisers so that one day we can find a cure.
As a club, THON is one event we look forward to the most all year long. We participate in fundraisers, spending time with our THON families, and of course we go to THON every year. Each year, we have the opportunity to have three dancers that will be on the floor awake and on their feet for the full 46 hours. These dancers inspire our club every year and we love to cheer them on all weekend. THON weekend with club gymnastics is filled with dancing, singing, crying, encouragement, and every other emotion you can think of. We are so honored to be able to be a part of this amazing event and encourage everyone else to get involved as well.
We have the privilege of being a part of two THON families' lives. These families, the Damesheks and the Karloski's, inspire us to be even more involved each and every year. The strength, bravery, and perseverance that our THON families have is so inspiring and makes us want to push even harder at THON. We see our families throughout the year through different activities such as going to soccer games and hosting them in the gym during practice.
