What is PUPS?
The Penn Undergraduate Psychology Society is an organization for all University of Pennsylvania undergraduate students interested in exploring psychology.
We sponsor numerous events aimed at assisting undergraduates in becoming part of the psychology community both here at Penn and in the field at large. Regular events include lunches with psychology faculty, advice sessions before course registration, career and graduate school panels, and more. It is not necessary to be a psychology major to join-every undergraduate at Penn with an interest in psychology is welcome. Be sure to check out our upcoming events page and sign up for our listserv to stay informed about future events!
Is being a member of PUPS a big time commitment?
Being a PUPS member is what you make of it! You truly do get out what you put into the club. With that said, PUPS is typically not a huge time commitment for most non-board members. We typically have a few events per month and none are required for members.
Is there an application to become a member of PUPS?
The beauty of PUPS is that, unlike many other clubs at Penn that are competitive to join, we accept all undergraduates who have an interest in psychology. All that is required of you is to add your information to the listserv here so that you can stay up to date on upcoming PUPS events.
Can I participate in PUPS events if I'm not an undergraduate?
Unfortunately, we do not typically allow non-undergraduate students to attend the majority of our events for the sole reason that we are community that specifically caters to Penn undergraduates; we believe that there is value in having a group comprised solely of undergraduates. However, we will consider making exceptions for some events if you email us at pennpsychsociety@gmail.com
How can I get more involved in PUPS?
We are always happy to speak with members who are seeking to become more involved with PUPS. Although we have no available board positions at this time, please reach out to us to express your interest in becoming more involved in PUPS by emailing pennpsychsociety@gmail.com
Does PUPS have social events in addition to lunches and panels with professors?
Yes, PUPS does have occasional social events. Our hallmark social events are movie nights during which we screen movies related to the field of psychology for our members. Feel free to check out our Events page by clicking below.
How can I find out about upcoming PUPS events?
Beyond the Events page of this site (linked below), the best way to keep up with new PUPS events is by subscribing to our listserv here. We send out monthly newsletters that detail our upcoming events and will push out reminders to members who have expressed interest in attending a particular event.
