At Peninsula Hindi School, we make learning Hindi fun, accessible, and meaningful for children growing up in the United States. Based in San Mateo, we proudly serve families across the San Francisco Bay Area, including Foster City, Belmont, Redwood Shores, Burlingame, San Carlos, Millbrae, Redwood City, and nearby communities.

Our weekend Hindi classes for kids focus on helping young learners build a strong foundation in speaking, reading, and writing —one word, one story, and one joyful moment at a time.

As a volunteer-run, nonprofit organization, we are passionate about connecting children to their Indian roots through the power of language.

Peninsula Hindi School is proud to be affiliated with HindiUSA, a leading non-profit organization that has been teaching Hindi to students across the U.S. for over 25 years.

Our beginner-friendly Hindi curriculum is thoughtfully designed for children. Through interactive lessons, songs, games, and storytelling, we make learning Hindi fun, engaging, and effective.

Whether your child is new to Hindi or building on what they already know, we support their journey every step of the way with:

• Age-appropriate Hindi textbooks

• A structured yearly curriculum

• Fun cultural activities tied to Indian festivals

• Hindi immersion through listening, speaking, reading, and writing

These Hindi enrichment classes for kids are perfect for children from Hindi-speaking families who want to improve their skills, as well as for those who are learning the language for the first time. We welcome all learners and help every child feel confident, connected, and excited about learning Hindi and exploring Indian culture.

We offer four levels:

Starter 1  (Ages 4-5)

• Introduce students to the Hindi language.

• Create an interest in learning Hindi and immerse students in a Hindi-speaking environment.

• Focus on oral, visual, and musical learning (no reading or writing).

• Teach numbers, colors, animals, birds, body parts, and everyday household objects.

• Learn Hindi names for different actions through games, arts and crafts, and puppet shows.

Starter 2  (Age 6) 

• Develop an understanding of how Hindi is spoken through poems, stories, and songs.

• Emphasize the speaking components of Hindi.

• Understand common commands and names of everyday objects.

• Learn and write Hindi vowels, recognizing their sounds.

• Know at least two words that start with each vowel.

• Introducing Hindi consonants.

• Learn Hindi counting (1-10) in reading and writing.

Beginners 1 (Ages 7+) 

• Learn to read, write, and pronounce all Hindi letters.

• Know at least three words beginning with each letter.

• Learn how to say several Hindi phrases.

• Learn Hindi numbers from 1-20.

• Focus on new vocabulary words in conversations while teaching letters and words.

Beginners 2 (Students who have passed Beginners 1)

•  Prepare students to read and write words without maatras

• Strengthen understanding of letters and their sounds

• Converse with the help of stories, poems, songs, etc.
