In the informal sector in Nairobi, unstable electricity is a major challenge for education, especially IT education. Therefore, we cooperate with Oasis Mathera, a community IT training centre for teenagers, where frequent electricity outages were affecting attendance rates. We commissioned and installed a 10kW/10kWh solar panel system at the school to provide a reliable power supply. We anticipate that stable electricity will bring up attendance rates, eventually graduation rates and job placement rates.
The project runs from February to April 2026. The solar panels began to provide electricity on 6th April. The project is also supported by inverter producer GoodWe and carried out by local distributor Nabico.
