We deeply appreciate your proactive efforts in notifying our staff if your child is unwell and unable to attend school. Kindly keep your child at home when they are not in optimal health.
It is mandatory for all parents to refrain from sending their child to daycare if any signs of illness are evident. In the event of prevalent symptoms, we will promptly contact parents to arrange the pickup of their child.
To assist you, here is a list of symptoms to guide your decision on whether your child can attend school:
Fever: 38+ Celsius, Cough, Cold, Vomiting, Sore throat, Skin & scalp infections(including lice), Bad rash, Diarrhea, Profuse amount of discharge from nose(Green colour), Eye discharge or pinkeye(conjunctivas), Head lice(requires treatment), Hand-foot-and-mouth disease
If your child is unable to engage in daily activities or requires one-on-one care, we kindly request that you refrain from sending them to the daycare. It is crucial for children to stay at home for a minimum of 24 hours after the complete disappearance of symptoms.
Our daycare is committed to adhering to the guidance provided by the local health department in all aspects of health and safety, particularly in controlling the spread of diseases.
As a precautionary measure, all children are required to stay at home for a period of 24 hours, ensuring the complete resolution of any symptoms. In cases where children have experienced fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, a doctor's note certifying their non-contagious status is necessary for their return to the daycare. Your cooperation is essential in maintaining a healthy and safe environment for all the children under our care.

Regular headcounts are performed to ensure that all children are counted.
Emergency Plan and Procedure, including a fire safety plan
We practice earthquake drills once a year and fire drills once a month. Emergency plans will be posted on both exits.
Emergency plan and procedure.
Drop, Cover and Hold on by Shakeout BC
Drop to the ground (before the earthquake drops on you!)
Take Cover by getting under a sturdy desk or table, and
Hold onto it until the shaking stops.
If there is not a table or desk near you, drop to the ground in an inside corner of the building and cover your head and neck with your hands and arms. Do not try to run to another room just to get under a table.
After educators and children are safely out of the building, we will meet outside in front of the house at Manning ave. The manager will do a headcount, collect the 72 hours emergency supplies from the Garage, and then contact families.
Fire safety plan.
In the event of a fire, we will immediately call 911. Educators and children must evacuate the building without delay. Once everyone is safely outside, educators will conduct a headcount to ensure all children are accounted for. The manager will then contact families to provide updates.
For children under the age of 3, we will use strollers to quickly transport them to our designated meeting point. This ensures their safety and expedites the process of reuniting them with their families. Strollers will be kept in an easily accessible location for this purpose.
In Case of an emergency, the childcare will contact parents or emergency contacts. In the event both parents and emergency contacts cannot be reached, the childcare will make the arrangement of sending the child/children to the emergency ward at the hospital (Eagle Ridge Hospital).
In case of any fire or earthquake emergency, we will meet at Grant Ave & York St (Hope Lutheran Church and School:604-942-5322)
