Jan Xerohj Olivo delivered his last State of the Learners Address (SOLGA) to conclude his term as the current President of Antipolo City National Science and Technology High School (ACNSTHS), highlighting initiatives and accomplishments of school organizations this school year.
The Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) spearheaded the conduct of the second and last SOLGA for the Academic Year 2023-2024 on May 24, assisting turnover rights and oath-taking ceremony for different clubs and organizations.
Moreover, school principal Mrs. Rosanna A. Ortiz acknowledged the dedication of the current administration, showing appreciation to the outgoing officials of the student government and encouraging more students to participate in leadership roles.
“If you became a leader in the future, ang isang bagay na hindi dapat mawala sayo ay integridad. We are here for the purpose of serving others. Leader ka because you want to serve other people,” she stated.
Organizations Accomplishments
Outgoing ACNSTHS President Olivo shared the accomplishments of the SSLG administration for the school year 2023–2024, stressing the transparency of the organizations in the General Club Council (GCC) of ACNSTHS.
Sixteen clubs were able to accumulate a total of 38,672.75 pesos through Income Generating Projects (IGPs) conducted in the annual Valentine’s Day celebration, 25% of it was donated for the school sound system, and the rest was intended for the funds of various clubs.
According to Olivo, the SSLG, Pendulum Chronicle, Ang Tipolenyo, Science and YES organization, conducted an outreach program, aiding 45 children in the Lingap Kabataan Center.
Moreover, the student government reduced their Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) this year, focusing more on beneficial projects such as the quarterly online library, health seminars, and leadership programs.
“Hindi niyo kailangan pantayan ang nagawang accomplishment ng kasalukuyang administrasyon. Ang kailangan niyong ipakita ay tatatak kayo sa puso’t isipan nila pagkatapos ng inyong termino,” he said to show support for the newly elected SSLG officers.
According to Olivo, he may be stepping down as the current president of ACNSTHS, but he is willing to help the incoming administration despite being complacent about the new set of officers.
Club Turnovers
The SSLG adviser and school principal headed the turnovers of the organizations and clubs during the State of the Learner Government Address (SOLGA), recognizing newly elected officials of various clubs on the same day prior to the event.
In line with SSLG Memorandum No. 51, s. In 2023-2024, organizations and clubs are required to conduct an election to elect new sets of officials on May 24.
Furthermore, acknowledgement of newly appointed and elected organization and club heads was held, followed by recognition of a new set of SSLG officers for the upcoming school year.
The oath-taking ceremony for the selected officers was adhered to, and the key of responsibility was passed on to the next SSLG president.
Moreover, the Junior High School (JHS) Coordinator, Mr. Rufino Idanan, left words of encouragement, inspiring learners to take part in making a change and to start believing in themselves.
