Call for Papers
Workshop in the Political Economy of the Middle East and North Africa (PEMENA) is an initiative that aims at bringing scholars interested in topics related to the political economy of the MENA region together to share their work and receive constructive feedback. The workshop focuses on empirically rigorous and theory-driven research situated in the broader political economy literature. The papers will cover topics on key topics in political economy, including but not limited to development, social welfare, inequality and redistribution, state capacity, distributive politics, foreign aid, and state-business relations.
This workshop will be held virtually and host 6-9 presentations of junior scholars (early-career assistant professors, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers). Participants will receive feedback on their work from a discussant and the audience. The workshop for 2022 is scheduled to take place on February 4, 2022.
While we require full drafts for the application, authors will have the opportunity to share an updated version of their paper before the workshop.
Authors interested in presenting their work are expected to submit their papers via this link by November 30, 2021 (PST) for full consideration.
We would be grateful if you could circulate this Call for Papers widely in your networks.
Best wishes,
