Demographics at Peirce are changing. Students of color have experienced harm and inequitable outcomes. These students and their families have the potential to be left behind, yet we can collectively disrupt social norms and reinforce racial equity. REP celebrates diversity, promotes equity, and honors each student's (and family’s) unique perspective especially with regard to race and ethnicity. REP takes input from community and caregivers, then creates opportunities for community building, education, advocacy, and celebration. We practice shared leadership because we believe we are strongest together, strongest when we center those closest to harm, and strongest when we listen to each other and hear feedback. REP aims to center children and families of color, amplifying their lived experiences. We create programs to support them such as social events, educational speakers, book clubs, rapid response and supporting local community actions. We challenge white families to unlearn racism and white supremacy culture through education and conversation. REP invites caregivers of color to provide input to this work, and more white parents to shoulder the responsibility of action. REP moves at the speed of trust, with intention. At times this must be quick, in others, pause and reflection.

REP has advocated for:
Discontinuation of harmful curriculum
Disaggregation of discipline data for students and pushing for equitable restorative justice practices
Creation of harm reporting and transparency in communication to the community
Parent organizations and LSC reps to use an equity lens
The Peirce Solidarity Fund was created by families during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide immediate, no-questions-asked support to Peirce families facing financial hardship. Managed by members of the Peirce Racial Equity Parent group, the Solidarity Fund is not affiliated with Peirce staff or CPS.
Rooted in the values of solidarity and mutual aid, this fund exists to support one another in the face of systemic inequities, offering resources where institutions fall short. 100% of funds collected go directly to families in need. This is NOT a tax-deductible contribution, and recipients decide the best way to use the funds.

Update: February 2026:
Our Peirce Mutual Aid Fund is making a real impact in our school community
Since September, we’ve raised $2,775 from 18 community donors and supported 10+ families facing unexpected challenges. These funds have already provided:
• $1,500 in grocery gift cards for immediate needs
• $3,500 in direct mutual aid support for families
Mutual aid is rooted in community care, dignity, and trust. When families need help, our community shows up.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 by the end of the school year to meet increasing requests. If you’re able, please consider donating and sharing the flyer. Every contribution truly makes a difference. Thank you for helping make Peirce a strong and caring community
