Welcome to the 2025
Peep Your Science Competition!
#PeepYourScience is back for another year of sugary goodness.
Inspired by the original Peep Your Science competition from The Open Notebook, we're giving marshmallow Peeps a new mission: to help students creatively showcase science in action! Whether it's fieldwork, lab drama, creative inventions, space chaos (there always has to be some space chaos!), or scientific discovery, students bring their creativity (or their wildest science dreams) to life—with Peeps.
This competition has followed me across the U.S. from school to school over the past six years, and no matter where it lands, it never fails to spark joy—both locally and around the world. Students love it and YOU all seem to love it too. Traditionally held the week before spring break, it’s a fun, creative way to channel excitement into science. In the Northeast, that usually means the competition happens in mid to late April.
The mission: create a diorama somehow related to science that incorporates at least one Peep (bunny, bird, or a mix, we accept all types! However, ALL the peeps are always encouraged!
Students, families, and friends are then encouraged to write a blurb (ideally no more than 500 words) to tell the voting public the who/what and whys of their chosen project.
It's weird, it's wonderful, and it's 100% sweet science. 🧪🍬
