1865 - Gets Married and has 1 daughter.

1867 - E.W. & John Mays started Mays & Bliss Company in Brooklyn - small hand, foot & power presses

1870 E.W. patents Rolling Key Clutch

1871 Mays retires, E.W. cousin J.H. Williams buys Mays portion. Renamed Bliss & Williams Company.

They worked with Louis Chevrolet also supplied material to build the Brooklyn Bridge.

1887 - E.W. bought out his cousin. Renamed E.W. Bliss Company

1893 - E.W. founded U.S. Projectile Company (arms)

1898 - U.S. Navy contracted Projectile Company to supply Whitehead Torpedo's.

1903 - E.W. Bliss dies. Son In-law James Lane I takes over.

1904 - Bliss-Leavitt Torpedo created

1927 - James dies suddenly. Frank C B Page takes over.

1938 - Page dies.


E.W.'s home was Owl's Head. A super sized Mansion. Eventually the city bought the Bliss property and it became a park - Owl's Head Park exists today. House was torn down due to age.
