In the Florida Orlando Mission, we had 5 Facebook pages, one for each language, each page had a color. Our mission president didn't like this look for our pages as he felt like the profile picture felt a little too catholic. This is what the page looked like when I first started working with social media.
The "Seja A Luz De Cristo - Orlando" page is the Portuguese Facebook page for the mission. Following the Mission President's feedback we redesigned the page's image and at his request we also unified our pages, giving them the same profile and cover picture. Later I noticed a lack of "Brazilianness" with the page, there was nothing to grab the attention of our target public and our numbers were decreasing so we proposed to our mission president to have the pages cater more to each language rather than looking for uniformity.
The solution? I grabbed aspects from Brazil and tried to incorporate them into our online profile. I completely redesigned the page, I used green as our main color due to it being the major color in the Brazil Flag, we also used leaves, trees, and nature to pay homage to the Amazon Forest that finds housing in the northern part of Brazil. I also used the "Christ the Redeemer" statue as part of our profile.
I tried to keep our profile picture simple with just an outline of Jesus Christ on a green background, I wanted to have a simple yet recognizable profile picture and put more of the Brazilian elements into the cover picture. We saw a higher number of interactions and impressions with this new page design.
