From Espresso to Manchild: Sabrina Carpenter Sparks Another Summer Takeover

2024 was a Sabrina Carpenter summer, from the hit songs “Espresso” and “Please, Please, Please” to her album Short n’ Sweet. Now, she’s making her summer comeback with a brand-new single: “Manchild.”
Carpenter has been around for a while, but 2024 was the year she officially reached pop star status. She opened for Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour, released a hit album, and went on her own tour.
Billboards teasing the new single appeared just days before her upcoming performance at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Spain, set to take place on June 5th. A promotional strategy that many were quick to realize mirrors what she did for “Espresso,” where she hinted at the release with billboards leading up to her Coachella debut in 2024.

She went on social media to confirm the news. She announced on Instagram: “this one’s about you!! ‘Manchild’ is out this Thursday 6/5 8 pm EST♥️”
The single is also getting a special release, pressed on a clear transparent 7" vinyl featuring “inside of your head when you’ve just won an argument with a man,” on the B-side. It is unclear if that is also a new single or a voice memo. The track was produced by Jack Antonoff, who also worked on her first number-one hit, “Please, Please, Please.”
Fans are already calling it the song of the summer. X user @dwtgee posted, “oh manchild by sabrina carpenter song of the summer already,” while @badfcrbusiness declared, “IT’S A MANCHILD BY SABRINA CARPENTER SUMMER.”
“Manchild” marks Carpenter’s first release since Short n’ Sweet (Deluxe) in February 2025. With her current level of stardom, the new single is sure to chart, but will using the same playbook as “Espresso” secure Carpenter her next big hit?
With “Manchild,” Sabrina Carpenter is solidifying her place as the defining pop voice of yet another summer.
